Pousada Acari

Pousada Acari grants exclusive access to 60 kilometers of the Acari River, a pristine tributary of the Aripuanã basin in southern Amazonia. The waterway is among Brazil's last strongholds for the speckled peacock bass (tucunaré-pinima): a species reaching over 12 kg that gathers in natural lagoons during the Amazon dry season from July through September.

The season splits into two distinct fishing rhythms. In the dry months (July–September), receding water levels expose shallow lagoons where schools of pinima hunt near the surface, making topwater and mid-column lure fishing highly productive. October–November brings the mixed fishery as early rains coax trophy catfish (pirarara to 40 kg, jaú to 100 kg, surubim and cachara) into accessible range. An outpost camp 50 km to the south (Redondo) rotates guests through additional unexplored territory.

The aluminum boat fleet runs Mercury 30 hp outboards paired with 34-lb electric trolling motors, live-wells, and stocked coolers; a native guide accompanies each pair of anglers. Access is strictly by air: a chartered Cessna Caravan departs Manaus Aeroclube and lands on the lodge's private airstrip; ground transfers within Manaus are included for groups.

Following a 2024 renovation, the suites feature solid-wood beds, screened porches with table and chairs, air conditioning, hot water, a minibar, and Wi-Fi. The dining hall seats 18 at communal 6-meter tables, with regional breakfast, lunch, dinner, and domestic drinks included in the package.
