Pousada Jaburu Pesca Esportiva

Pousada Jaburu Pesca Esportiva sits on a floating lodge moored on the Rio Urubu, a black-water tributary near Itacoatiara, in the state of Amazonas, close to the Colônia Nova Vida community. The structure holds up to 40 guests across 20 rooms, each with a private bathroom, and runs on its own power generator, independent of the region's electrical grid.

The main target is tucunaré-açu (the spawning-phase color morph of Cichla temensis), found in the Rio Urubu's dark water and landed at solid size by guests. Fishing goes out in aluminum johnboats fitted with an electric trolling motor and included fuel, each with a boat pilot who also works as the fishing guide, at a ratio of one guide per two anglers. Water levels on the Rio Urubu rise from March through June, peak in May, and fall from July to a low point in November, when sandbars are exposed and the fish concentrate in pools and undercut banks, and the August-to-December window is when fishing peaks.

The standalone daily rate starts at R$ 850 per person and covers lodging, full meals, water and soft drinks, plus use of the fishing boat. For anglers who'd rather not arrange their own transport to Itacoatiara, the lodge offers a transfer package departing from Manaus at R$ 1,100 per day, with a minimum of 4 anglers and 4 days.

Fishing license and tips are the angler's responsibility, as is getting to Manaus, the starting point of the lodge's transfer.
