Rio Preto Lodge is a floating fishing lodge on the Rio Preto da Eva, a right-bank tributary of the Amazon roughly a 3-hour drive from Manaus. The structure stays moored to the riverbank in front of a private rural property with its own dedicated access road, cutting out any long-distance boat transfer between the Manaus airport and check-in.
Over 1,000 m² built across two floors above the water hold 20 double suites, a natural freshwater pool, a shared lounge and a river-view deck. Some suites are fully adapted for wheelchair users and elderly guests.
The fishing fleet is made up of aluminum Titan boats with dual casting platforms, electric Minkota trolling motors, 30hp Yamaha outboards and unlimited fuel, with each pair of anglers paired with a locally native guide. Fishing happens along the Rio Preto da Eva and inside reserve areas with restricted access negotiated with local riverside communities, adding privacy at the fishing grounds. The main target species is the peacock bass (Cichla temensis), fished under a strict catch-and-release policy.
The Rio Preto da Eva sits within the Amazon basin near Manaus; the closest river gauge on the main stem (Jatuarana, on the Rio Solimões-Amazonas, about 20 km away) shows high water between May and July and low water between September and November, with more than 12 meters of amplitude between the extremes (the same flood pulse that governs the lodge's surroundings). High water floods the riverside forest (igapó) in the first half of the year, while the second-half drawdown exposes sand beaches and concentrates peacock bass in pools and coves, when sight-casting tends to produce the biggest fish.
The menu blends traditional Brazilian dishes with Amazonian specialties, with three daily meals, snacks on the return from fishing, a drinks bar with unlimited caipirinha and a bring-your-own policy for spirits. The trip runs Sunday to Saturday with an executive van transfer (about 3 hours) straight from Manaus International Airport to the lodge, with no river travel required.
